2022 Hurricane Season Forecast — Up to 20 Tropical Storms and 4 Major Hurricanes

The University of Wisconsin announced an upgrade to the Advanced Dvorak Technique (ADT) — a tool that meteorologists use to forecast hurricanes — in time for the 2022 Atlantic hurricane season. Meanwhile, researchers already expecting above average storm activity during the period from June 1st through November 30th.

Sea temperature already reaching levels ideal for an early start, similar to conditions in May 2021, and NWS confirmed EF-1 tornado in Arecibo, Puerto Rico, but NOAA will resume regular reports on May 15, 2022.

Dr. Phil Klotzbach and his team at Colorado State University has issued their seasonal outlook for hurricanes this year:

• 19 Named Storms

• 9 Hurricanes

• 4 Major Hurricanes

Reasonable forecast, even though some amateur meteorologists expect up to 22 tropical storms, 10 hurricanes and up to 6 major hurricanes. Danny Morris interested in tropical meteorology writes:
